Extrusion tools (tip and die)

Extrusion tools (tip and die) consists of the classic tip and die. When applying two or more layers, an intermediate tooling called mandrel-die is used in conjunction with the mandrel and die. The mandrel is designed to guide the core or cable blank through the center. It is used together with the die, which is intended to shape the molten material into the required form and thickness. Mandrels can have a tip for applying a polymer layer by the tube method (with vacuum) or be tipless for applying a layer by the jacketing method (filling the inter-core space).
